Our mission and ministry
The River of Life Church is committed to bringing Jesus Christ to the people of Dumfries. We are a contemporary Church, bringing the good news of Jesus’ love, healing and forgiveness in a way that people can understand and interact with. We love to step outside the walls of the Church building to make an impact in a real way to people’s lives. Church should be fun and engaging and we do all we can to make that the case, focusing on life-issues and applying God’s Word to everyday challenges, dilemmas and decisions.
Activities
Sunday Church services form the pillar of our Church activities, but by no means does it stop there! There are loads of things for people to get involved with: Life Groups meet at different locations (usually homes), at different times throughout the week, to cater for a wide variety of needs; Alpha courses run, as an introduction to the Christian Faith.
The local town centre Christian bookshop and coffee shop, Kings, is a ministry of the River of Life Church, providing a place to meet, Christian resources and employment. There’s a vibrant youth event in the River of Life Centre every Friday night.
“The Pantry”, is open in the River of Life Centre, every evening, from 7pm to 8pm to distribute surplus food from local supermarkets, to anyone who needs it.
History
The River of Life Church began in the Pastor’s home as a small prayer group in 1987, developing into a Church in 1988. We’ve always been keen to be proactive in building people and doing things which reach out to the community. The wide range of Church ministries and activities which have developed are the outworking of that vision.
