The Queens Baton has passed through Dumfries today, greeted by crowds of school children. Here are some links to More than Gold, an organization which churches in Dumfries are working with while the commonwealth games come to Glasgow.

December is fast approaching when our congregations will start the preparations for the birth of Jesus.
Below is a message from Alison Wright, chairperson of Christian Aid, regarding the forthcoming Carol concert in St George’s.
Why not make 11th December a date to remember (11/12/13) by joining Christian Aid’s Big Christmas Sing in St George’s Church, Dumfries at 7:30pm. This is your opportunity to sing carols and listen to songs and  music with a Christmas theme.  Featuring Dumfries Male Voice Choir and talented flautist Ruth Jardine.
Everyone Welcome, tea, coffee and mince pies will be served after the event.
Admission free. Donations gratefully accepted.

As I sure you are aware Christian Aid is working on through its partners in the areas affected in the Philippines following the Typhoon last week.
There is an emergency appeal  - I have envelopes should you wish to have a collection. Christian Aid is also part of the DEC appeal.  Please do contact me if you have any questions on this.

Best wishes Alison Wright
